Mowbuddy tips

Our top five lawn care tips for Brisbane

Water wisely: Deeply water your lawn 1-2 times a week, preferably in the early morning or late afternoon. This is to prevent evaporation and promote root absorption.

Mow smart: Set your mower blades higher to allow grass to grow taller which will shade the soil and discourage weed growth. When mowing remove no more than one-third of the grass height at a time and mow more frequently.

Fertilise with care: Use a slow-release, granular fertilizer designed for Brisbane's climate. Apply during Spring and Autumn following the package instructions to avoid over-application.

Weed control: Hand-pull small weeds and use selective herbicides for larger infestations, following instructions to protect your grass. A great tip (and only if possible) is to hand-pull after rain so that they come out of the soil easier!

Aerate and topdress: Annually aerate your lawn to improve air circulation and root growth. Topdress with compost or organic matter to enhance soil quality, nutrient retention, and moisture balance.
